The Bass Agenda T-series, focussed on exploring different Techno flavours, continues with French talent Antony Dupont.
This EP, ‘Lonely Night Riders’, brings three tracks; two high energy four four dance-floor rippers, and one dark broken beat mesmeriser, 'Mermaids of the Dark'.
The title track is a dark piece that builds, showing off Dupont’s talent for combining conflicting sound elements; with clear strings riding on top of a swelling wave of distortion and stomping bassline, all carried to your synapses on the back of a punchy kick drum.
‘Polygons’ sets a groove immediately, it’s thick kick drum and robotic bassline glittering with off key high bleeps, soon layering up with strings and building a sense of enormity with its melody and undulating low end synth work.
Finally, ‘Mermaids of The Dark’, a broken beat track that lives up to its name; conjuring up images of hybrid beings, born to be beautiful, but, twisted into something sinister and ominous - occupying the shadows. Heavy beats, dark soaring atmospherics, and a distorted line that must surely be the heart wrenching cry of these poor creatures.
